Is it safe to delete macOS downloaded assets?
Parts of macOS downloaded after installation, such as speech and language data, voices, fonts, dictionaries and on-device models.
Managed by macOS
macOS manages it. It's never moved to the Trash.
/
What it is
macOS downloads many components separately from the system itself and keeps them in /System/Library/AssetsV2, which System Integrity Protection protects. They include speech and language data, voices, fonts, dictionaries, software update files and the models used by Apple Intelligence. macOS downloads, updates and removes them as features need them.
If it's removed
Features that rely on an asset stop working until macOS downloads it again.
What to do instead
Leave these to macOS. It downloads and removes them as the features that use them need.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. The app never removes it.
