Is it safe to delete Flutter build folders?
Build output that Flutter creates in each app project, for every platform you build for, including release builds.
Usually safe
It can be recreated, but it takes a download, a reinstall or the tool's own command.
~/
- Only next to pubspec.yaml
- Never inside ~/
Library, ~/ **/ packages/ flutter_tools
What it is
Flutter writes the output of every build, such as iOS, Android, macOS and web builds, into a build folder at the project's root. Most of it is created again the next time you build, and Flutter's clean command removes the same folder. When you build an iOS app for release, Flutter also puts the Xcode archive here, with the debug symbols you need to read crash reports from that release.
If it's removed
The next build for each platform is a full, slower build. Release builds and Xcode archives in the folder are removed too, so keep a copy of any you still need.
How it's removed
Moved to the Trash, where you can restore it.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It's never checked for you: it waits for your choice.
