Is it safe to delete Opera website data?
Offline data that websites and web apps stored in Opera, such as service worker caches and IndexedDB databases.
Usually safe
It can be recreated, but it takes a download, a reinstall or the tool's own command.
~/
What it is
Opera is built on Chromium, and websites can store data in it so they load faster and work offline: service workers keep their own caches, and web apps keep databases in IndexedDB. A single site can store several gigabytes, and Opera keeps this data until the site or you remove it.
If it's removed
You're signed out of the websites you clear, their saved preferences are reset, and web apps that work offline download their data again. Anything a web app saved only on this Mac, such as unsynced drafts, is lost.
What to do instead
In Opera, open Settings, select Privacy & security, and click Delete browsing data. Choose a time range, select Cookies and other site data, and click Clear data.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it, with these steps. The app doesn't remove it for you.
