Is it safe to delete Steam games?
Games you installed with Steam, their downloads, and any saves they keep in the game folder.
Review first
It's your own data, or hard to recreate. Decide item by item.
~/
What it is
Steam installs games in this folder by default, with each game in its own folder inside common. Games are often tens of gigabytes. Steam's support notes that the folder holds your game downloads and any local save files, so uninstall games in Steam instead of removing the folder.
If it's removed
Uninstalled games need to be downloaded again before you can play them. Saves that a game keeps only in its own folder are removed with it; saves in Steam Cloud aren't affected.
What to do instead
In Steam, click Library, Control-click a game you no longer play, and choose Manage > Uninstall.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it, with these steps. The app doesn't remove it for you.
