Is it safe to delete Homebrew Caskroom?

Records of the apps and other casks installed with Homebrew, and the files that some casks keep here.

Review first

It's your own data, or hard to recreate. Decide item by item.

/opt/homebrew/Caskroom

/usr/local/Caskroom

What it is

For each cask you install, Homebrew keeps a folder here with the version it installed and the information it needs to upgrade and uninstall it. Apps are moved to the Applications folder, but some casks, such as command-line tools, keep their files here. Uninstalling a cask with Homebrew removes its app and this folder together.

If it's removed

Apps and tools from casks you uninstall stop working until you install them again.

What to do instead

Homebrew manages these apps. Uninstalling a cask with Homebrew removes the app and its records together.

FREE

The free analyzer finds it and explains it. The app never removes it.
