Is it safe to delete Android Virtual Devices (AVDs)?

Android emulators you created, each with its own storage, installed apps and saved state.

Review first

It's your own data, or hard to recreate. Decide item by item.

~/.android/avd/*.avd

~/.android/avd/*.ini

What it is

Each Android Virtual Device keeps its data in its own folder here: the apps you installed on it and their data, its virtual SD card and saved emulator states. A small settings file with the same name sits next to each folder, and Android Studio lists the device by it. A device's folder grows as you use it. The system image it starts from is stored separately, in the Android SDK.

If it's removed

The virtual device and the apps and data on it are removed. You can create a new device from the same system image.

How it's removed

Moved to the Trash, where you can restore it.

PRO

The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It's never checked for you: it waits for your choice.
