Is it safe to delete .tox folder (tox)?
Test environments tox creates for a Python project, which it creates again when needed.
Safe
Its owner recreates it by itself when it needs it, and nothing you made is lost.
~/
- Only next to tox.ini or tox.toml or pyproject.toml or setup.cfg
- Never inside ~/
Library
What it is
tox runs a project's tests and other tasks in separate virtual environments, and keeps them with their logs and build files in the project's .tox folder so later runs start faster. tox creates any environment that's missing the next time it runs. The folder stays behind in projects you no longer work on.
If it's removed
The next tox run creates its environments again and installs their packages, which takes longer.
How it's removed
Moved to the Trash, where you can restore it.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It starts checked in the Cleanup checklist, except inside Documents or Desktop.
