Licensing and activations

How Pro is licensed: one payment, up to 3 Macs, and moving a license to another Mac.

Updated

One payment, lifetime access

The analyzer is free and stays free. Pro costs $4.99, once. There's no subscription, and future versions, major ones included, are part of it.

Pro adds cleanup, the Apple Data actions, items that need an administrator, Time Machine's local snapshots, the uninstaller, alerts and What Changed's history.

Free for good, no trial

There's no trial and nothing counts down. The free version keeps scanning, the map, the explanations, System Data and the space meter for as long as you use it. A license key unlocks Pro.

Every Pro tool's review sheet is free to open, so you can see on your own Mac exactly what it would move or run, and why, before you buy. Without Pro, its confirm button reads Upgrade to Pro… and opens the Pro sheet. What Changed's history is kept for everyone from the first day, so upgrading shows the history you already have. The menu bar item's alerts about low space, fast growth or an app you moved to the Trash are part of Pro; the alert that says there isn't room for a macOS update always comes.

Undo, Put Back, Empty Trash and Cleanup History never need Pro, so getting files back is never behind a payment. Until Pro is active, the toolbar has an Upgrade to Pro button. It opens the Pro sheet: what Pro adds, Buy Pro, and a field for your license key. There are no badges, launch prompts or countdowns.

Buying and your license key

Dodo Payments sells Pro for Wombit as the merchant of record: it handles the payment, the receipt and the tax. As soon as you've paid, the checkout brings you back to this site with your license key on the page, and a button that opens Wombit with the key filled in. Dodo Payments also emails the key to the address you paid with, and its customer portal, which emails you a link to sign in, has it again at any time.

Pro in the beta

Before 1.0, betas sell Pro through Dodo Payments' test mode, so testers can try buying and activating. Pay with Dodo's test card: nothing is charged. The test key works in the betas and stops working in 1.0, and Settings › License says why. Each tester is sent a key for 1.0, as thanks.

Activating a Mac

Click Upgrade to Pro in the toolbar, choose Enter License… in the Wombit menu, or open Settings › License. Paste your license key and click Activate. When you arrive from the thank-you page's button, the key is already in the field; the app still waits for you to click Activate.

One license covers up to 3 of your Macs at the same time. Activating sends only your license key and a random name the app makes for that Mac, such as “Mac 7F3A”, so the license can count its Macs. Settings › License shows which name this Mac has. No file names or paths are ever sent.

A key for another product, even one sold through Dodo Payments, doesn't activate Pro.

Offline, and checking the license

The app checks the license with Dodo Payments about once a week while your Mac is online. Being offline, or Dodo Payments being unreachable, never turns Pro off. Only its answer does: when a license was refunded or turned off, or when this Mac's activation was removed. Settings › License then says why, once.

Moving to another Mac

To use Pro on a new Mac when you've already activated 3, deactivate one of them first: Settings › License › Deactivate This Mac… on that Mac.

If you can't reach that Mac any more (it was sold, lost or erased), write to support@wombit.app from the email address you bought with, and give the names of the Macs you still have. Settings › License on each one shows its name, such as “Mac 7F3A”. The one not on your list is then freed for you.

Refunds

If Pro isn't for you, ask for a refund within 7 days. See Refunds and the License agreement.
