Is it safe to delete Bun install cache?
Packages Bun has downloaded, kept in one place and reused by every project.
Safe
Its owner recreates it by itself when it needs it, and nothing you made is lost.
~/
What it is
Bun stores each package version it installs in this global cache and copies it into a project's node_modules folder. On a Mac these copies are clones, which share disk space with the cache until one of them changes. Bun downloads any package it needs again, so projects that are already installed keep working.
If it's removed
The next installs download packages again. Space the cache shares with your projects' node_modules folders stays in use until those folders are removed too.
How it's removed
Bun's own cleanup command (bun pm cache rm), run by the app.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It starts checked in the Cleanup checklist, except inside Documents or Desktop.
