Is it safe to delete Claude Code debug logs?
Debug logs that Claude Code writes for each session while debug logging is on.
Safe
Its owner recreates it by itself when it needs it, and nothing you made is lost.
~/
What it is
Claude Code writes a debug log for each session here while debug logging is on, for example after the /debug command or when it's started with the --debug option. It deletes these logs once they're older than its cleanup period, 30 days by default, but busy sessions can make them large before then.
If it's removed
Past debug logs are gone. Claude Code creates the folder again the next time it writes a debug log.
How it's removed
Moved to the Trash, where you can restore it.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It starts checked in the Cleanup checklist, except inside Documents or Desktop.
