Is it safe to delete Cursor extensions?

The extensions you've installed in Cursor, in one folder for each extension.

Review first

It's your own data, or hard to recreate. Decide item by item.

~/.cursor/extensions

What it is

Cursor installs VS Code-compatible extensions into this folder, separate from any VS Code installation. It can grow large when you use extensions that bundle language servers or debuggers. Extensions you no longer use stay here until you uninstall them. Removing the whole folder uninstalls all of your extensions.

If it's removed

Features that come from an extension you uninstall stop working until you install it again.

What to do instead

In Cursor, open the Extensions view, click the Manage button next to an extension you no longer use, and choose Uninstall.

FREE

The free analyzer finds it and explains it, with these steps. The app doesn't remove it for you.
