Is it safe to delete VS Code extensions?
The extensions you've installed in Visual Studio Code, in one folder for each extension.
Review first
It's your own data, or hard to recreate. Decide item by item.
~/
What it is
VS Code installs every extension you add from the Extensions view into this folder. It can grow large when you use extensions that bundle language servers, debuggers or AI assistants. Extensions you no longer use stay here until you uninstall them. Removing the whole folder uninstalls all of your extensions.
If it's removed
Features that come from an extension you uninstall stop working until you install it again.
What to do instead
In VS Code, open the Extensions view, click the Manage button next to an extension you no longer use, and choose Uninstall.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it, with these steps. The app doesn't remove it for you.
