Is it safe to delete VS Code caches and logs?
Web, code and graphics caches, downloaded extension packages and session logs that Visual Studio Code keeps in its data folder.
Safe
Its owner recreates it by itself when it needs it, and nothing you made is lost.
~/
What it is
VS Code is built on Electron, so it keeps a web cache, compiled code caches and graphics shader caches next to your settings. CachedExtensionVSIXs holds copies of extension packages it downloaded, and logs holds a folder of logs for each recent session. VS Code rebuilds all of these as it runs, and trims old code caches, extension downloads and logs on its own. Your settings, extensions and workspace data live in other folders and aren't included.
If it's removed
VS Code starts a little slower the first time afterward while it rebuilds its caches. Logs from earlier sessions are gone.
How it's removed
Moved to the Trash, where you can restore it. Quit Visual Studio Code first.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It starts checked in the Cleanup checklist, except inside Documents or Desktop.
