Is it safe to delete Dropbox folder?
Your Dropbox folder, with the Dropbox files that are downloaded to this Mac.
Usually safe
It can be recreated, but it takes a download, a reinstall or the tool's own command.
~/
What it is
Dropbox keeps your Dropbox folder here and shows it under Locations in Finder. Files you've opened or made available offline take up space on this Mac; online-only files don't. Deleting a file here deletes it from Dropbox too, so make files online-only instead.
If it's removed
Online-only files download again when you open them, which needs an internet connection. They stay in your Dropbox account.
What to do instead
In Finder, open Dropbox, Control-click files or folders you don't need on this Mac, and choose Make online-only.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it, with these steps. The app doesn't remove it for you.
