Is it safe to delete Go module cache?
Source code of the Go modules your projects depend on, downloaded by the go command and shared between projects.
Safe
Its owner recreates it by itself when it needs it, and nothing you made is lost.
~/
What it is
The go command downloads every module a project needs into this folder, including newer Go toolchains that projects ask for, which Go downloads like modules. The folder has no size limit, and Go doesn't remove anything from it on its own. Go makes these files read-only, so the folder is removed with Go's own clean command. Modules are downloaded again when a project needs them.
If it's removed
The next build of each Go project downloads its modules again, which takes time and a network connection.
How it's removed
Go's own cleanup command (go clean -modcache), run by the app.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It starts checked in the Cleanup checklist, except inside Documents or Desktop.
