Is it safe to delete pip cache?
Python packages pip has downloaded or built, kept so later installs don't repeat the work.
Safe
Its owner recreates it by itself when it needs it, and nothing you made is lost.
~/
What it is
pip stores the packages it downloads, and the wheels it builds from source, in this folder and reuses them when you install the same versions again in any environment. It grows as you install new packages and versions. pip downloads or builds anything it needs again, so installed packages and environments aren't affected.
If it's removed
The next installs download packages again, and packages that have to be built from source are built again, which can take a while.
How it's removed
Moved to the Trash, where you can restore it.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It starts checked in the Cleanup checklist, except inside Documents or Desktop.
