Is it safe to delete uv cache?
Python packages, wheels and temporary tool environments that uv downloaded or built.
Safe
Its owner recreates it by itself when it needs it, and nothing you made is lost.
~/
What it is
uv, a Python package and project manager, keeps the packages it downloads, the wheels it builds and the environments it creates for tools run with uvx in this cache. By default it puts copies of these files into each virtual environment, so your environments don't depend on the cache. uv downloads or builds anything it needs again.
If it's removed
The next installs and uvx commands download packages again. Environments made with uv's symlink link mode, which isn't the default, stop working until they're created again.
How it's removed
uv's own cleanup command (uv cache clean), run by the app.
The free analyzer finds it and explains it. Removing it is Pro, after a review sheet that lists every move and command. It starts checked in the Cleanup checklist, except inside Documents or Desktop.
